Email64 Email64 is an email-program for an unexpanded C64. It supports standart-RS232- modems with most RS232-adapters: Userport, Enhanced-Userport, Swiftlink / Turbo232 and SilverSurfer. For sending username and password it supports Password Authentication Protocol (PAP) only, not CHAP and not direct transfer like a terminal program. If your internet-provider uses CHAP only, then you must try a different one. You recognize CHAP when you receive many 'RCV LCFG RQS' and 'SND LCFG NAK' (at PAP you receive one only). If your internet provider uses terminal-program- mode only (probably in the USA) then you can tell me and I would try to find time to program this feature if you will be the beta-tester for it. After the 'ATD...' line appears on the screen it takes up to 30 seconds until the server answers - you have to wait. Every time when the character top left on the screen changes, Email64 sends one byte. Every time when the charcter right of it changes then Email64 receives one byte. As long as one of these bytes changes everything is ok. If both characters don't change then there is a crash; reset the C64 and pull off the modem cable but NEVER pull off the RS232 adapter. Email64 can download the first 99 emails and saves them to disk and it can send 9 emails. First you must run 'config-inpr*' to config the internet-provider. Then you must run 'config-emac*' to config the email-account. The configuration is a little bit complicated. If there are any questions, problems, bugs... please ask me. Jochen Adler NLQ@gmx.de
